Welcome to the Sakhalin Oblast. Home of the bitter dispute between Russia and Japan, but we'll talk about that later. The Oblast is composed of the enormous Sakhalin Island to the west, and the numerous but small Kuril Islands to the east. It is the wealthiest Oblast in the Federation, having rich reserves of natural gas and oil. Also has some amazingly bad weather. So we'll see how that goes.
